Hyuga (日向市) is a city located in the prefecture of Miyazaki, Japan. Surfers come from all over Japan to enjoy perfect waves throughout the year. The city is known to be sunny and relaxed. The municipality is welcoming surfers for visiting and settling. Here is my selection of surf spots I enjoy visiting:

Okuragahama Beach, which was chosen as one of the “Best 100 Beaches in Japan,” features a 4-kilometer coastline running north-south and a wide sandy beach. You can enjoy nice waves, access to surf shops, showers, and big parking. (The parking is also suitable for sleeping at night).

A less crowded spot you can access from the Stair of the Seas parking. You can enjoy nice coffee and food with an amazing view after your session.

A tiny spot with access through a sketchy road. Waves can be magic there!
